Caffeine is omnipresent in today’s society, appearing in many different products that are consumed on a daily basis. The most common forms of caffeine ingestion come with drinking coffee, tea, and soft drinks. It is one of the only psychoactive substances that is legal in the United States and it is estimated that nine out of every ten men consume caffeine on a daily basis. For this reason, it is important that men learn about the various health problems that can be encountered when caffeine intake reaches excessive levels. In short, caffeine is a drug and there are consequences when too much has been taken.
When used in moderation, caffeine can provide increased mental acuity and give a person a temporary burst of energy. However, the levels that are considered moderate differ from person to person and often depend on the caffeine tolerance of the individual man. If caffeine is used excessively, one common symptom is disrupted sleep patterns. The man will change the amount of sleep he gets on a daily basis and the times when he goes to sleep and wakes up. Also, the quality of sleep will be decreased. Headaches, nausea, and irritability are other common symptoms that occur with excessive caffeine use. A man that decides to reduce or eliminate his caffeine intake will find that he is likely to experience symptoms of withdrawal similar to those from more powerful and dangerous drugs.
Although caffeine has been around for many years, the level of usage ha skyrocketed in recent years, due partly to the increase in popularity of energy drinks. These beverages are intended to give a person a quick burst of energy and they usually include a combination of high caffeine levels with other herbal stimulants. These energy drinks create higher tolerance among users, leading to more and more caffeine being ingested. In addition to energy drinks, soft drinks are also part of the problem. Sodas and other caffeinated beverages have steadily increased in size and popularity. Instead of drinking water, many people are opting for a liter or more of soda each time they feel thirsty. However, caffeinated products will not relieve thirst and this leads many men to drink even more soda.
If habits are not changed, excessive caffeine consumption can cause more serious problems. Depression, hallucinations, and abnormal heart rates are just a few of the possible complications. The best way to prevent excessive caffeine use is awareness and regulation. A man should inspect the snacks and drinks that are consumed to be aware of the levels of caffeine that are entering his body. Also, he should monitor these amounts to keep them at manageable levels. Periodically, he should take a break from caffeine for a week or two to lower tolerance. Caffeine has many benefits, but it should always be consumed in moderation for the best possible results – using that Viagra online all night long, for example.
